Used industrial parts are available well below their original cost. This includes many obsolete parts which are also available if you know where to look. In most cases it is far less expensive to perform a basic repair with used, obsolete parts than it is to perform a complete equipment ugrade. Refurbished obsolete parts and supplies are also an option. These industrial parts can carry a warranty similar to when the part was sold new... this of course varies among suppliers.
It is definitely cost effective for smaller operations with aging equipment to repair than it is to replace or upgrade existing equipment. This is epecially true with industrial electronics, but also holds true with mechanical components as well.
