I thought i would contribute an old Westinghouse Life-Line Motor brochure I came upon in one of our filing cabinets. It has historical value if nothing else. The brochure is dated August 1949, and ironically some of these motors still exist in industry today, I know that because I've actually seen them. Here is much of what is in the brochure:

METHODS OF MOUNTINGThe Westinghouse Open Type SK motor can be supplied for various special mountings when ordered. There is a price addition for variations in mounting arrangement.
FLANGE MOUNTING-Type "B" Flange and Face Plate Mounting. For such applications as machine tools and pumps where motors are built in as part of the machine.
VERTICAL M0UNTING - Ring Base, for such applications as pumps, agitators, eta. Motor usually supplied with enclosing covers, either solid or perforated.
OTHER MOUNTINGS - Where special conditions make other methods of mountings desirable, consult your nearest Westinghouse Sales Office for helpful assistance.
