A ground fault in this case is likely in the motor, I think the fault list tells you to check not only the motor for grounds, but the external wiring also. There is no mention of a ground within the drive.

I totally agree, Ross makes a great valve, but environment can take its toll on any brand. So it may be in your best interest to try another brand just for comparison, see if another brand can hold a candle to the Ross valves or not. Think of it as a necessary experiment.

I had a drive failure. The drive is an older Parker SSD. Now the question is simple yet complicated. Apparently one of the SCR's failed, it was showing 0 ohms to ground which in turn took out a semi-conductor fuse on the input side of the drive.

As it so happens, we had one in stock and it is changed easily with a couple of phillips head screws.

Now comes the question about fusing. I ordered some semi-conductor fuse replacements because we had none in stock. In the meantime, can I install a time delay fuse that is slightly smaller in amperage? I have an old obsolete fuse that physically fits. The semi-conductor fuses are 125 amps, and this time delay fuse is 100 amps.

I am pretty certain the bad SCR is what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. Machine is down but needs to be up. So smaller amp time delay for the rest of the day?? Or wait it out and use the proper semi-conductor fuses when they arrive?

This is what I need to change, the main board, it is easily accessed by swinging open the door on the front of the drive:




Looks like I'll get one ordered and take it from there. Upon replacing the defective main board, does anyone know if I have to reprogram the drive? Or will it maintain its calibration?

Thanks Cheller. I will dig deeper. I took the cover off the drive. I also spoke with a Parker rep. and he told me to check all fuses before proceeding.

At this point, it's not looking too good.

Hello All,
I have a problem with a DC590+ DRV Series DC Drive that powers a 100 HP vintage DC Westinghouse Motor. These are the large yellow and grey drives sometimes called SSD drives.

This thing was doing fine. It is a somewhat fresh installation, maybe less than 6 months old. All of a sudden, the motor slows to a halt and I get an alarm on the Parker drive screen.

The alarm is SEQ PRE READY Unfortunately, one of the other guys cleared from the screen before I took the picture.

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am going to contact Parker support as well. I need to get this motor back on the road asap.

Wow, great idea... I'm going to see if I can find any snapshots of obsolete stuff from work. We will probably see some interesting submissions here.

Is anyone familiar with Kilotron induction heaters? I'm looking for information on these old induction heaters.



Specifically trying to find Kilotron induction heater schematics. I have experienced electrical issues with our unit recently and haven't been able to find any info at all. Of course, our Kilotron manuals have gone missing. I think it is model 5KA-17, I'll have to double check on the model.

What makes matters worse, is that problems are intermittent. Also, I can't seem to find any info on the company itself. They just disappeared.
