What is Fanuc SV0454 Alarm?

Looking for some info on this problem as well as some other Fanuc alarms.  If any Fanuc maintenance technicians have details or a good, simple explanation for the SV0454 fault, I would appreciate it...

ILLEGAL ROTOR POS DETECT The magnetic pole detection function terminated abnormally.
The magnetic pole could not be detected because the motor did not run.
