What is Fanuc SV0305 Alarm?

Looking for some better info on this servo fault and some other Fanuc servo alarms.  Any Fanuc maintenance technicians have details or a good, simple explanation for the SV0305 alarm?

APC ALARM: PULSE ERROR Since the absolute-position detector caused a pulse error, the correct machine position could not be obtained.

The absolute-position detector, or cable is thought to be defective.
